Pilgrim Parade Pleaser Adult Costume

These days Thanksgiving is a feast. A celebration of all that we are thankful for in the past year. This feast usually involves a turkey, just like in the days the Pilgrims landed in Plymouth and had dinner with the native Americans.

Thanksgiving has been celebrated annually since 1863, and is traditionally and historically been observed as giving thanks to God. It’s thought that the first Thanksgiving was thanks to God for surviving the first brutal winter by the pilgrims in Plymouth.

Little Colonial Miss Child Costume

The original feast lasted three days (!) with 53 original pilgrims and 90 native Americans. They shared a feast of poultry, deer, fish, lobster, clams, wild berries, pumpkin, squash and local fruit.

This give you an idea of how the foods on our Thanksgiving table came about. It is said that there were LOTS of turkeys on that table, so you can imagine where that came from.
